We are Tom and CC Krome
Tom
Meet Tom Krome, the sweet, the imaginative, the bold. He's had the privilege of escaping his native Florida heat every summer by coming to Franklin, since he was a wee one, and enjoying the family's vacation home in the mountains. He's had dreams of farming this land for many years and in 2021 we made his dream come true.
When not farming: Tom is an avid reader, a charismatic musician. His cooking skills are a real treat to those who get invited over for dinner. A friend to many animals, especially our dogs Kissimmee and Basil.
When it comes to farming, you can bet he's cooking up new ideas. He's thinking big-picture and researching ways of implementing more no-till strategies, perennial foodscaping, & processing techniques for produce -to name a few. While he's scheming he's typically broadforking a 50x50 garden plot, or scything cover crop, no stranger to hard work, sweat and tears.
CC
CC Krome started farming in 2017 by crash-landing into an apprenticeship at a biodynamic farm in Alachua, FL. Once she started, she knew: there was no other path—nourishing others was her life’s work. The opportunity to found her own farm wasn’t something she had ever imagined herself doing, and she’s incredibly grateful for the privilege.
When not farming, you can find her scribbling words like her life depends on it, baking something sweet or cooking up a nourishing, scrumptious feast, communing with her sweet cat Suwannee, or obsessively jigsaw puzzling—really, obsessively.
She farms with the practicality and persistence of your ancestors, meditatively applying herself to the minutiae of feeding others. After all, if the work doesn’t create satisfying meals for everyone, why bother?
Kissimmee, Basil and Suwannee
Last but not least, our loving pets and the best farm helpers we could ask for. From keeping the field mice at bay near our home to eating any stray eggs that don’t make it to the plate or market, they keep us smiling and warm our hearts.
